Raj Reddy

Raj Reddy was born on June 13, 1937 in Chittoor, India. Like my other two superheroes, Reddy is very intelligent. This can be seen from his many degrees. His first of the list is a bachelor's degree from Guindy College of Engineering, followed by Anna University, then a master's degree from New South Wales. Then, he worked at IBM for three years before moving to the US where he proceeded to get yet another master's degree and doctorate from Stanford. One of his biggest contributions to the world of computer science was his creation of the AI system, "Hearsay I". This system recognizes continuous speech in different languages of code. Like the number of degrees he has, Reddy also has racked up many awards over his years in this field. These include: The Turing Award, The French Legion of Honour, the Padma Bhusha, the Okawa Prize, the Honda Prize, and lastly the Vannevar Bush Award. Additionally, Reddy was an integral part of the "Machine Intelligence and Robotics: Report of the NASA Study Group, Final Report" alongside Carl Sagan. He was awarded honorary doctorates for his work as well and is a part of many engineering groups for multiple countries. Although he is not as well-known as some of the other superheroes, it does not take away from the amazing and innovative work he has produced in the field of computer science.
